Another misfire from the Grimes campaign

Alison Lundergan Grimes may like to pretend to shoot, but yesterday yielded yet another misfire from her campaign.

After attempting to attack Senator McConnell on the Farm Bill currently making its way through congress, she refused to answer a question from WHAS political reporter Joe Arnold on “a key sticking point” of the bill:

While Grimes was attacking McConnell for gridlock in the capital, she declined to say how she would vote on a key part of a new farm bill.

A major sticking point in the Farm Bill is Supplemental Nutrition and Assistance Program, or SNAP (food stamps) funding, which temporarily increased with President Obama’s stimulus in 2009.

With the Democratic-majority Senate wanting to cut food stamp funding by about $4 billion over 10 years and the Republican-led House wanting to cut about $40 billion, Grimes declined to say how much she thinks should be cut from the program, when asked by WHAS11.

“There are ongoing negotiations right now and I’m not going to comment on those negotiations,” Grimes said. “My hope and my plea and my call is for Congress to pass a farm bill.”

One would assume if Alison was going to spend the day talking about an issue like the Farm Bill, and even go so far as to launch a web video on the issue, she’d have an opinion on one of the most widely debated parts of the bill.

But this isn’t the first time Alison Lundergan Grimes has tried to go on offense and failed miserably. The Grimes campaign has a tendency to fire off press releases and “endless, aimless attacks at McConnell.”

The bottom line is this: Kentucky voters deserve more than Alison Lundergan Grimes’ empty partisan attacks. How can Kentuckians believe a word she’s saying when she won’t even answer their questions?
