Tonight, Republican candidate Suzanne Miles was elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives in the 7th District Special Election. With Miles’ victory, Republicans will hold 46 seats in the State House to Democrats’ 54.

Miles released the following statement, upon winning the election:

“I am honored to have been elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives and am grateful for everyone’s hard work, commitment, and support. I look forward to representing the 7th House District and being a clear, strong voice for the people of Daviess, Henderson, and Union counties. Winning this election puts Kentucky Republicans on a clear path to flipping the house in 2014 and putting Kentucky back on the right track. I am excited to be a part of that change.”

RPK Chairman Steve Robertson issued the following statement following Miles’ election:

“We had a great candidate with a solid ground operation, and both of those factors contributed to a Republican win tonight, but at the end of the day Suzanne Miles’ focus on the issues made the difference in this election. Suzanne’s steadfast opposition to ObamaCare was the closing message of her campaign, and clearly her stance on this important issue resonates with Kentuckians and led voters in the 7th House District to elect her. This race is absolutely a step in the right direction for Republicans in Kentucky, and we look forward to flipping the Kentucky House of Representatives to Republican control in 2014.”

I am honored to have been elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives and am grateful for everyone’s hard work, commitment, and support. Suzanne Miles, Representative-Elect
