Statement From RPK on Conway & Overly Announcement

FRANKFORT – The Republican Party of Kentucky released the following statement from Chairman Steve Robertson in response to the announcement of Jack Conway and Sannie Overly’s campaign for the 2015 Governor’s race.

“It should concern all Kentucky voters that a true liberal like Jack Conway, who has publicly embraced President Barack Obama and the views of his administration, wants to lead our Commonwealth. What’s equally concerning is the fact that House Democrat leader Greg Stumbo has already declared Jack Conway’s running mate Sannie Overly unfit to hold this office.”

Greg Stumbo Says Candidates Who Can’t Decide Which Office To Run For Aren’t Fit To Hold Either Office.

“The bill appears to have little chance of passing the Democratic-led House, with Speaker Greg Stumbo, D-Prestonsburg, saying last week that “we kind of take the position over here that a man (who) can’t decide which office he wants to run for isn’t fit to hold either office.”” (Lexington Herald-Leader, 3/12/14)

“House Speaker Greg Stumbo, D-Prestonsburg, however, has repeatedly said he’s against the bill because he doesn’t believe a candidate “who can’t make up his mind” should be be [sic] elected to anything.” (Courier Journal, 3/12/14)
