Andy Beshear is Weak on Parental Rights in Education

FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 27, 2023) – The Republican Party of Kentucky issued the following statement after Andy Beshear refused to sign Senate Bill 5, a bill which gives parents more control over content in education.

“Andy Beshear just took the coward’s way out and refused to stand up for parental rights in education,” RPK Spokesman Sean Southard said. “Andy Beshear likes to have it both ways: pretend to be a moderate but is a raging ideologue. He supports CRT in the classroom, allowing biological boys to compete against girls in school sports, and just refused to take a position on giving parents more rights over what content their children are exposed to. Thank goodness we have strong Republican leadership in the legislature when it comes to the education of our children because we have a Governor who believes he and his Education Commissioner ought to have more say over the education of our children instead of Kentucky’s parents. Andy Beshear is the opposite of what Kentucky deserves. We need a Governor who will stand strong on parental rights in education, not one like Andy Beshear who likes to run away with his tail between his legs.”
