Job Description
JOB TITLE: Executive Director
REPORTS TO: RPK Chairman
DATE: March 10th, 2025
SUMMARY OF THE POSITION’S PURPOSE
The Executive Director is the Republican Party of Kentucky’s professional manager and leader, charged with pursuing the RPK’s mission, achieving the organization’s strategic goals, and administering and implementing the organization’s day to day activities. The Executive Director is responsible for leading the staff, managing the organization’s resources efficiently and effectively, and ensuring positive and productive relationships with all stakeholders – including party leadership, elected political leaders and their staffs, donors, employees, volunteers, the press, and voters. Oversees the Party’s communications and ensures it is timely and on message.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Leadership
● Leads, motivates and coordinates the staff in the implementation of the RPK’s daily activities designed to achieve the mission and goals.
● Helps develop the organization’s strategic goals and recommends and implements actions to reach those goals.
● Provides leadership and overall supervision to all areas of the RPK including communications; fundraising; compliance on all administrative, legal and election matters; coordination with other political offices (i.e. Governor, legislature, Congressional leaders).
● Provides strong and visible representation of the RPK in the community and is a leading advocate and spokesman for the RPK.
● Identifies opportunities and recommends ways to promote the RPK’s mission, improve service and use resources efficiently. Brings proposals to the Chairman to enable the organization to grow more effectively, researches issues for Executive Committee action.
Management and Administration
● Manages resources (finances, employees, facilities, collections, etc.) and organizes, directs and prioritizes staff activities to maximize effectiveness and meet the RPK’s strategic goals.
● Fosters cooperation and teamwork; makes sure the staff has clear job descriptions and is trained and developed; ensures the growth of internal talent and develops the RPK’s internal leadership and plans for succession as needed.
● Seeks and takes advantage of opportunities to promote the RPK, serve stakeholders and reach new political enthusiasts and supporters.
● Formulates and implements effective and efficient administrative and operational systems and procedures to meet the organization’s mission and strategic goals; recommends the organizational structure and personnel necessary to carry out those procedures.
● Ensures each staff member receives a minimum of one documented performance review each year and reviews annually the performance of the overall organization.
● Prepares an annual budget in conjunction with the Chairman and the Budget Committee; manages the RPK’s day-to-day finances; works to ensure the organization has appropriate financial controls and submits accurate and timely reports.
● Plans, directs, coordinates and administers special projects as needed.
● Communicates regularly, effectively and timely with the staff, political offices, committees and other stakeholders.
Relationships, Outreach and Professional Development
● Establish a strong working relationship with the RPK staff, members of the RPK Executive Committee and RSCC.
● Establish a positive environment that is motivating to the RPK Staff, committee members and candidates.
● Maintaining contact and regular communication with the Governor’s office, House and Senate caucus political staff, campaign managers for statewide and federal candidates, Republican National Committee staff, NRSC and NRCC staff and consultants, local Republican leaders, Republican consultants and other key political operatives to ensure that Party campaign and political activities are coordinated wherever possible. Collaborate with each group to further the success of the RPK.
● Seeks opportunities to represent the RPK to the public and communicate such messages as coordinated with other political offices (i.e. Governor, legislature, Congressional leaders).
● Keeps informed of recent developments including activities in both the Republican and Democratic circles. Identify messaging opportunities due to candidates actions or votes and in a timely fashion ensure “the conversation” is shaped to benefit the Republican candidate.

● Works under the direction and supervision of the Chairman.
● Abides by The RPK’s code of ethics, policies and procedures.
● Demonstrate a consistently positive, enthusiastic, constructive and professional attitude.
● Ensures courteous, prompt and respectful service to all colleagues and stakeholders.
● Carry out other duties as directed by the Chairman.
