What do KY Dems @AlisonForKY and @SpeakerStumbo have in common? Both support @BarackObama & lied about #coal.

Tweets: tweet this

What do Kentucky Democrats Greg Stumbo and Alison Lundergan Grimes have in common?

They both lied to Kentuckians about standing up for coal and they both support Barack Obama.

On Wednesday evening, Greg Stumbo tweeted that he was thrown out of the White House “after a shouting match with the administration over coal.” But over an hour later, surely after multiple inquiries, Stumbo tweeted “just kidding.”

And just last month Alison Lundergan Grimes promised she’d stand up for coal at her fundraiser with ‘coal makes us sick’ Harry Reid, but in an 11 minute speech, she didn’t mention the word ‘coal’ once.

The shameless lies and gimmicks coming from Greg Stumbo and Alison Lundergan Grimes illustrate an obvious desperation to convince Kentuckians they’d be a strong voice for coal despite their allegiances to the liberal Obama agenda.  The dog and pony show they’re putting on doesn’t change the fact that Stumbo openly endorsed Obama and his policies in 2012, and Grimes has clearly established herself as Obama’s Kentucky candidate.

Big Difference Between Stumbo And Others On Coal Is His Endorsement Of Barack Obama And His Agenda “”Stivers said the issue “is one thing the speaker and I agree on.” One difference, Stivers said, was, “I didn’t endorse him (Obama) as the speaker did.”” (Courier Journal, 6/15/14)

Alison Lundergan Grimes Lied About Standing Up For Coal At Harry Reid Fundraiser “Alison Lundergan Grimes’ campaign insisted last week that she’d use a high-dollar fundraiser with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid as a forum to promote Kentucky’s coal industry and demand action to protect the use of fossil fuel. That didn’t happen, according to an audio recording of the affair obtained by POLITICO through a source at the event….The one word she didn’t say during her 11-minute speech: “coal.”” (Politico, 6/9/14)

Grimes Supports The Democrat Party Platform– When Asked If She Supported The Democratic Party Platform, Grimes Said “I Do …” REPORTER: “So I’m going to ask you this. Do you support the National Democratic party platform?” GRIMES: “I do, Jim. Unlike my opponent, I am a lifelong Democrat, born and raised, and proud to stand up and say I’m a Democrat and running on the Democratic party ticket.” (Alison Lundergan Grimes, Interview With James Pence, 3/21/11)
