Today, an official with Governor Steve Beshear’s Office of Budget and Fiscal Management announced that Kentucky’s gas tax will increase within the next month.
Beginning July 1st, Kentucky’s families and motorists will pay an additional 2.4 cents per gallon. Last year, the gas tax increased by the same amount.
Beshear’s budget official estimated the gas tax increase will yield an additional $60 million for the road plan over the last estimate.
Kentucky House Democrats, who were hungry for a gas tax increase during the 2014 General Assembly session, must be celebrating the gas tax increase and the burden it forces on Kentucky families.
House Democrats’ hunger was so great, they voted in March to raise Kentucky’s gas tax $60 million per year.
