Frankfort, Ky. (May 12, 2023) – The Republican Party of Kentucky issued the following statement in response to the upgraded credit rating from Fitch Ratings:
“Thanks to strong fiscal discipline from Republicans in the state legislature, Fitch has increased Kentucky’s credit rating,” RPK spokesman Sean Southard said. “Immediately, Andy Beshear is rushing to take credit for it. Fitch says it increased the rating due to better budgets and strong tax receipts, neither of which Irrelevant Andy had anything to do with. In fact, he threw a hissy fit last year when the Republicans introduced a budget without his input and vetoed tax cuts during 40-year high inflation. He’s just downright dishonest. The people of Kentucky deserve better than a Governor who prioritizes government handouts over hard work and who opposes efforts to reduce the tax burden on working families and then lies about it. It’s time for a change in leadership that puts the needs of hardworking Kentuckians first.”
