One would sure think so, considering the amount of support her campaign is getting from the Golden State. From Hollywood to San Francisco, and now the Coachella Valley, Grimes is really making California her campaign’s new home.
With the “California Switch Mitch” effort and Barbara Boxer’s “PAC for a Change” behind her, Grimes is sure to have tons of Californians’ enthusiastic support in this election.
Just one problem: she’s running in Kentucky.
Kentucky Woman Attracts Coachella Valley Democrats

Despite the high-stakes county supervisor and congressional races in their own backyard, local Democrats are diverting resources to help voters in the Bluegrass State.
The Democratic Headquarters of the Desert has launched what they’ve dubbed the “California Switch Mitch” campaign, a telephone blitz that promotes Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes’ bid to unseat U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
The collaboration started after local Democrat Robert Westwood, who has a home in Kentucky, connected with Grimes’ campaign team.
In recent weeks, the Coachella Valley Democrats have sent several email blasts to members, urging them to voice their support for Grimes and volunteer to make voter outreach calls.
This certainly isn’t the first time a local political club has worked on an out-of-state campaign.
But the intense focus on raising Grimes’ profile is certainly an interesting move, as Democrats have insisted they will focus their resources on Rep. Raul Ruiz’s re-election effort and Assemblyman V. Manuel Pérez’s campaign against Riverside County Supervisor John Benoit.
Grimes already has at least one major endorsement from the Coachella Valley: U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer, a Rancho Mirage Democrat, is helping Grimes raise money through her “PAC for a Change” political action committee.
