Frankfort, Ky. (May 1, 2023) – The Republican Party of Kentucky is kicking off Derby Week by announcing today that it is going into the fall election with a more than 50,000 voter registration advantage, marking the first time in the state’s history that Republicans have held such a significant lead. The party believes that this advantage positions it well to unseat Governor Andy Beshear, who won the 2019 election by a margin of only around 5,000 votes.
“As the eyes of the world turn to Kentucky for this week’s horse race, Kentucky Republicans are looking ahead to the race this fall,” said Mac Brown, Chair of the Republican Party of Kentucky. “We are thrilled to see so many Kentuckians embracing the Republican Party’s commitment to Kentucky and her values. This voter registration advantage is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our party and its supporters, and we are optimistic that it will translate into electoral success in November.”
With each passing day, more and more voters are realizing that the Republican Party is the best choice to lead Kentucky into the future. TownHall media recently reported on the shift in voter registration, saying that Kentucky voters have “abandon[ed] Democrats in droves on Andy Beshear’s watch.”
“Once our nomination process is concluded, the Republican Party stands ready to lead Kentucky forward, and with the momentum of this voter registration advantage behind us, we are confident that we can win in November,” added Brown. “To that end, we will be hosting a post-primary unity event where we hope each gubernatorial candidate will attend and show their support for the nominee as we rally towards November.
