As The Hill reported yesterday, Harry Reid “is now fully in charge of his party’s negotiating strategy, a significant change from past showdowns with Republicans.”
“There’s no question, Reid is now the quarterback,” said a Senate Democratic aide.
According to POLITICO, Reid sidelined Mitch McConnell’s negotiation partner Joe Biden to assure nobody could make a deal.
Even National Journal reports that he’s “Getting the Fight He Always Wanted” – Harry Reid has been adamant that there be no negotiations, and now it’s clear that he’s running the show.
It’s no secret that Alison Lundergan Grimes has a strong relationship with Harry Reid – she’s asking Kentuckians to elect him, rather than a Kentuckian like Senator McConnell, to lead the senate.
So what does Part-Time Grimes have to say to Reid? This is his shut down, and she said it herself: “There’s no political points to be gained by this shutdown.”
Clearly Harry Reid is the one that won’t negotiate, as Republicans have brought countless ideas and solutions to the table. Grimes is going to have to explain to Kentuckians why she supports someone that refuses to compromise, refuses to listen to the people’s total disapproval of Obamacare, and refuses to sit down like an adult and work together to find a solution.
